The Essence of Life.

Human contact is essential, both privately and professionally. Depending on ones personality type and lifestyle, people move in their own cosms every day where they experience positive, neutral, or negative influences on their senses.

In some moments, one descends to a micro level, in another, one descends to the macro level. Localists move on one or a few life cosms, globalists on many more, and those in between would have points of contact with various cosms. They all have one thing in common.

From infancy onward, they learn to build awareness around the senses. All possible points of contact trigger different neural responses in the brain of each person. These are transmitted via the nerve pathways back to our sensory systems and body parts followed by a perception that triggers a reaction or interaction.

And none of this would be possible if the air - with its vital oxygen - wouldn't supply the body via the lungs with the essence of life.

2020

The diverse perception of these points of contact and the multifaceted reactions and interactions triggered in each individual have been reduced to "breathing" with the beginning of the coronavirus and since the emergence of a global pandemic. People have become more sensitive to the invisible, which, in the tiniest of particles and not directly perceptible to all previously learned senses, could potentially alter perceptions and leave a lasting impact on everyday lives.

The beautiful, personal moments were suddenly overshadowed by an unprecedented health risk. The danger of dying from the effects of the virus, even as a perfectly healthy person, or of suffering long-term after-effects could not be ignored. The human fates and the effects of the new psychological and physiological points of contact in peoples' interactions with others on this planet could not be hidden.

The new present

Society was suddenly confronted with completely new rules and regulations. Did politicians want to have influence on our senses before? Until then, only business people in marketing and sales had the ability to marvel with the eyes, stimulate the desire to buy through smell, or create a pleasant feeling of relaxation through sound. But suddenly, we were expected to wear masks like in Hollywood movies, maintain social distance, and follow hygiene guidelines. All of our senses were de facto altered at the level of physiological needs and reduced to the second level of "safety" in Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Our own tools

And then the question: When would this finally end? All hope rested on doctors, researchers and scientists. Surely, a viral infection can ultimately only be warded off if we can make our highly complex human organism 100% immune. But what good is immunity in one place if nothing of the sort is the case just a few hours away or across the border? And how much would we lose the quality of life and freedom we're used to along the way?

The TV, PC, and smartphone became more than ever a platform for parallel worlds. After 30 years of the internet, we were connected everywhere, and self-presentation via social media suddenly evolved from a "worldwide travel diary" to "Who am I at home?" For some, the smartwatch counted new highlights, for others fewer steps. Overall, however, it our lives were reduced to fewer cosms. People moved only in one or a few.

Some were desperate to learn more, others immersed themselves in creative work or distracting entertainment. Some took up a long-desired hobby, and some used the time to contribute. So why not simply use the modern tools of the 21st century, which have solved so many problems up until now? Why not equip a portable, battery-powered device with a HEPA 13 filter to minimize the danger at all times and regain that original sense of freedom.

This is why the air purifier to-go was created.

to-go Filter

What is the Vision?

My vision is that with the toGo Filter portable device, people can not only breathe healthier, but can see, hear, speak, smell, touch, and taste - all configured in a personalized gadget. In the long term, the battery-run device shall utilize the earth's natural resources - namely, not only air but also sun, water, heat, and cold - for the technology, haptics, design, and add-ons.

From creation to growth

So, in 2020, the world's maps were recolored and borders faded. Red and orange were the new hotspots. The goal was to bring the toGo filter onto the market as quickly as possible - from the idea to production until the first sale, it took just nine months.

Starting with the first users in Berlin and Munich, the first 500 toGo Filters mapped the landscape with green spots, and with the use of the to-go air purifier, a total of 500 communities breathed safely on Christmas. The positive response prompted us to immediately produce another 3,000 units to reach additional target groups. More users followed in other parts of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. After this, people moved around the globe with the toGo Filter in everyday situations, and our goal of making the device known through "word-of-mouth" marketing was successful. With a consistent focus on maintaining the highest quality standards in terms of product, design, and function, further production batches followed. The range of applications expanded to all nasal, bronchial, and pulmonary conditions, as well as all everyday and rare life situations.

Then the "air purifier" product developed into a new market - originally a technology integrated into building technology - as a static, floor-standing device for use in rooms. In Europe alone, this market is estimated to be worth €10 billion by 2030, and even €28 billion worldwide - the toGo Filter, with HEPA 13, activated carbon, and pre-filters designed for the breathing environment, became the innovative solution as a flexibly deployable, integrated and portable device.

Now in its fifth year, the toGo Filter has become an indispensable personal gadget that is always taken along, carried, and used. It is de facto present in all cosms of life in which people move within micro and macro levels across the globe.

It touches the wearables market (US$153 billion), the smart home market (US$116 billion) and ranks among the personal all-purpose gadgets from smartphones (US$319 billion) to smartwatches (US$53 billion).

Who is the Founder Woman?

Founder Patricia Greißl began searching with a sense of urgency for a technical tool that would allow people to clean their air medical-grade anywhere, anytime. It was a major concern for her to mitigate the invisible threat from the air and better protect herself and others without the constant topic of conversation that increasingly divided conversation partners at the beginning of the pandemic. Until immunity would be achieved, she wanted to carry a personal gadget with her that would automatically maximize protection wherever she would go. A technical solution that would allow her to flexibly take control of her air quality and bring a smile to others' faces in the process.

She grew up just south of Munich and comes from an area that, by global standards, has excellent air quality. At the same time, she gained extensive experience with airborne hazards in her younger years. In 2007, she experienced days in California when the particulate matter pollution from fires was so high that she was not allowed to leave buildings. In 2009, she was there when the H1N1 virus (swine flu) broke out locally in Hong Kong. Shortly after, she experienced a summer in Beijing when the sun shone like a pale fireball behind a thick layer of particulate matter, skin began to itch on rainy days, and eyes had to be protected at all costs. And that was despite the fact that countless taxis, cars, and electric scooters were already rolling through the streets at the time. A year later, she survived a severe case of mosquito air transmitted dengue fever in India. There she also learned the art of natural survival. She still remembers the moment she returned to Germany in 2010, when she took her first deep breath and the fresh, clean air awakened her body and mind.

Over the past few decades, Patricia's real estate job career has brought her to the insides of many different buildings. She was familiar with the existing and missing air conditioning, air filtering and air circulation systems. She experienced the pandemic firsthand in her daily life, but her awareness of the healthy air to breathe was already there.
